Three ghosts.
    sheepish, avoidant,
        hidden behind hollow greeting.
  all faded        
  all distant
     within an endlessly present vitality.

Three ghosts.
    all stoic    
    all cold
       each standing as tribute
      of an aching reminder,
of a belief of inadequacy,

    though never
    explicit,
         yet always

implied.
